Learning science is not always easy for children. Often if it seems difficult, children will lose interest. Science is an essential area that will stay with children throughout their education, so it is important that they don’t lose interest while they are young. There are number of things one can do to get their kids interested in science.
There are tons of resources out there on the web which have easy projects, hard projects, learning projects and some projects that leave you scratching your head. Since I’ve done a few of these with my little cherubs, I’ll list a few things you should consider in selecting a Science workshop project.
One idea is to use the grade level along with your search terms. 4th grade science fair projects will get your more than just science fair projects. You could go science projects for fourth grade. Try it all ways before and after and with the number and the number written out.
Biology is the study of life and the slow but interesting process it goes through. With some butterfly nets, microscopes and hydroponics lab you can start exploring the wonders of Biology. The most exciting part of Biology is getting a microscope and seeing what different specimens look like up close. There are things you will see that you would never think of. Even planting a plant and watching it change through the weeks can give your kid an idea on what type of work goes into every living thing.
These are just a few of the free resources available to Science teachers. There are plenty of places to look for this information. Networking is a key ingredient to your success as a Science workshops for schools teacher. Learn from others, what experiments have worked, and which ones did not. Look into gathering free resources from the recycling center, nature, and companies in your area. Use all of the technology that is available in order to gain insight on teaching your particular subject. Ask parents to donate materials that they may have available. Look for free things listed in advertisements.
Amazing to me people manage to get up this early (7:00 a.m. or earlier) to participate in movement. People in this free flowing movement class are probably 17 — 70+ years old. Everyone is silent before we begin. With awareness we crawl slowly around the room and begin, at the level of micro-movements, to slowly stand up. I usually stand with knees slightly bent.
Another night I was at a workshop in a downtown high rise and when I came out to go to the parking lot which was about a block away, I had to walk among street people laying right on the sidewalk and reaching up as I passed, asking for money. I never went to anymore workshops.
The main thing is that you have fun with your kids. I think I actually enjoy doing a Science Experiment more than the children. It’s really good quality time and I usually take the opportunity to talk about something different, out of the ordinary. We don’t get much time with our kids with our busy schedules, sports, activities, etc. As much as I talk a big game about trying to get it done quickly and out of the way, when the nest is empty, I will miss the science project.
